Competition Day 1

Day 1 of the SAE Aero East Competition began with a presentation of the analytical and technical details of our plane. Later was the technical inspection of the plane and the box to verify that all of the requirements are met. All approved pieces were marked.



Plane Assembly
Next was the plane assembly demonstration in which the plane and payload had to be assembled and attached in under 3 minutes.
Competition Day 2 & 3
Days 2 and 3 of the competition were the flight portion of the competition. Day 2, four rounds of flight were completed while on Day 3 there were three flight rounds completed for a total of seven flight rounds, a record for the SAE Aero East competition.

Crash Montage
Award Ceremony
The competition finished off with a big ceremony where teams from each class received 1st, 2nd, or 3rd for Best Technical Paper, Best Technical Presentation, Highest Payload Performance, and Best Overall. The Old Dominion University 2018 Flying Monarchs took 3rd place for Highest Payload Performance and Best Overall out of 25 competitors in the micro class.
